As an IELTS instructor with over 20 years of experience, I often get asked by my students about what topics to expect in the IELTS Speaking test. One common theme is places, and more specifically, places popular with young people. This is a great topic to be prepared for as it allows you to demonstrate a wide range of vocabulary and grammar structures.

Understanding the IELTS Speaking Test Format

The IELTS Speaking test is the same for both the Academic and General Training modules. It is a 11-14 minute one-on-one interview with a certified examiner. The test is divided into three parts:
